Surety Bonds Hub
Contract bonds, license and permit bonds, court bonds, fiduciary bonds and public official bonds. Five paths through the one thing every surety bond has in common: it protects somebody else, and you pay it back.
Every other section of this site describes insurance — a policy that pays your loss.
A bond is not insurance. It is a guarantee, and if the surety pays, you owe them.
That single fact changes how bonds are underwritten. An insurer prices the chance of an accident; a surety underwrites whether you will perform, and expects never to pay a claim at all. So the questions are financial — balance sheet, work on hand, credit, experience — and the indemnity you sign makes you personally responsible for reimbursing anything they do pay.
